Advertisement: The Department of Philosophy in the School of Humanities, Arts and Sciences at
St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor teaching emphasis faculty position. The teaching emphasis contract will be 9 months and could include summer teaching. The Philosophy department offers both a major and minor. Applicants should also be willing to engage in interdisciplinary teaching. Philosophy provides curriculum required across various programs in the College for Women (CFW), College for Adults (CFA), the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program, and in the general education core.
Responsibilities: - Faculty to teach 6 Philosophy courses and 1 course in the CORE, The Reflective Woman, a first year seminar class required of all first year students.
- The selected candidate is expected to have responsibilities in teaching and service.
- The teaching load is seven sections (28 credits) per academic year.
- Applicants from all areas of specialization in philosophy are welcome and should expect to teach introductory and upper level courses within their area of expertise, including regularly teaching Biomedical Ethics.
- Candidates may also suggest more advanced topics courses that appeal to students from a variety of majors.
- Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to university service.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, school, campus, community and professional organizations.
