Reporting to the Information Technology Manager I, the Systems Administrator will take on a variety of complex tasks to support Department of State Hospital's (DSH) technology infrastructure. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work within broad guidelines, addressing multiple program areas. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the planning, design, development, implementation, and ongoing management of key technological solutions that are integral to DSH’s mission.

The role primarily focuses on Cloud and Systems Engineering, with responsibilities including architecture, security, system design, development, testing, operations, configuration, and maintenance. The systems managed by this role include server infrastructure, storage, operating systems, Active Directory, Azure, AWS, automation, databases, VMware (VRA, Log Insight), vulnerability management, Office 365, Nagios, and identity management.

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise and have experience managing complex systems while ensuring high levels of security, performance, and reliability. This position is key to maintaining Visa’s IT infrastructure and contributing to the delivery of innovative solutions that support the company’s goals.

Please respond to the following questions:

  1. Describe your experience in managing and designing complex infrastructure systems. Specifically, how have you served as a subject matter expert in Cloud and Server technologies? Include examples of how you have led initiatives in architecture, security, system design, and automation. Provide details on the tools and scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Chef, Puppet) you’ve used to improve system management, and how you collaborated with cross-functional teams to implement strategic solutions.
  2. Explain your experience with managing and maintaining Azure and Office 365 environments, including tasks such as planning, testing, configuring, and monitoring these platforms. Discuss any policies or standards you have created around identity management and security. Share an example of how you worked with cross-functional teams to implement best practices for Azure, Office 365, or related technologies to improve operational efficiency and security.
  3. Provide examples of your experience with systems maintenance and operations, specifically with Active Directory, VMware, disaster recovery, and backup administration. Additionally, describe your experience with IT project management—particularly in assessing project requirements, recommending IT solutions, and managing the successful completion of infrastructure projects within budget and timelines. Include an example of how you have led a project from conception through implementation.
