Job Title: Teacher Floater 

Job Location: Gloucester, MA

Position Type: Full-Time

Two schedules available:

52 weeks per year 37.5 hours per week 

43 weeks per year 37.5 hours per week

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable Teacher Floater to join our Head Start team. The Teacher Floater will provide essential support across different classrooms and age groups, ensuring continuity of care and education for children. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist lead teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities aligned with Head Start and early childhood education standards.
- Float among various classrooms to provide coverage in the absence of lead teachers or to offer additional support as needed.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff to create a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
- Monitor and engage children during activities to promote their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet the diverse needs of children in different classrooms.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment and help in the preparation and maintenance of educational materials.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to early childhood education.
- Collaborate with other staff in planning and conducting parent engagement activities and events.
- Document and report observations on children's progress and behavior to support ongoing assessment and individualized planning.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working in a preschool or Head Start environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching practices.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE A FLOATER?

  • CDA Credential or EEC Preschool Teacher certification preferred
  • Minimum of 9 months experience working with children 2.9-5 years old
  • Must be 18 years old or older High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role
  • Must comply with all state and federal vaccine mandates
  • Must complete and satisfy background check protocols
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and participate in physical activities with children.
  • Comfort with getting down to children’s level for interaction and play.
  • Ability to move around in various classroom environments.
